Each tool listed includes clear pricing in Canadian Dollars, accurate as of November 2025, and is linked for fast access. Free tier tools appear first to help you get started with minimal cost. We did aim to curate this list with zero-cost in mind. After all, Wedū Media started off as a scrappy little one-man WordPress agency, and free tools, guides and videos were what made our brand what it is today. Well, and 10+ years of learning, but hey… Getting off track. Let’s get into it:
Automation #1: Google Sheets Automations With Zapier
What Benefits Will You See With This Automation?
- Free tier available for basic automations
- Easy to set up in minutes
- Perfect for collecting leads or syncing form data
Zapier is the most popular no code automation platform for beginners. The free tier allows small teams to build simple workflows that move data between apps., with a common example being the action of collecting form submissions from your website and saving them directly to a Google Sheet for overview/mass tracking. If you’re a big excel buff or use Google sheets for your business operations and tracking, this is a HUGE plus for you when it comes to tracking leads. If you are paying for a CRM you can’t afford, this little system will replace it entirely.
Pricing: Free tier available. Paid plans start at approximately 30 CAD per month as of November 2025.
This automation is ideal for businesses that want to track leads, form submissions, or inquiries without paying for a CRM. Zapier supports thousands of apps and has a clean, beginner friendly interface.
Mailchimp Email Automation
Benefits
- Excellent free tier for new businesses
- Preset templates for automated sequences
- Easy tagging and segmentation
Mailchimp offers one of the best free automation tiers for small business email marketing. You can automatically send new subscriber welcome emails, product recommendations, and abandoned cart reminders. This is actually the software that we use to date! It also integrates with our Quickbooks, as both are owned by Intuit.
Pricing: Free tier available. Paid plans start at approximately 19 CAD per month as of November 2025.
Mailchimp also includes simple segmentation features that help deliver the right message to the right people. This improves engagement and conversions without extra marketing spend.
Calendly Booking Automations
Benefits
- Automates appointment scheduling without email back and forth
- Integrates with Zoom, Google Meet, and Stripe
- Free tier suitable for most service providers
Calendly simplifies booking by automating your availability, reminders, and confirmations. You can set it up so new bookings automatically sync to your calendar and send customers the appropriate meeting links. If you’re a professional consultant, or offer discovery calls, paid meetings, etc: Calendly is the automation tool you are missing out on. You can have an interactive calendar that respects and syncs with your schedule, all without even paying for a website. This lowers the barrier to entry significantly, allowing you to take that entrepreneurial leap if you plan to!
Pricing: Free tier available for single meeting types. Paid plans begin around 14 CAD per month as of November 2025.
This is perfect for consultants, trainers, freelancers, or any business that requires scheduled client time.
Make (formerly Integromat) Visual Workflow Builder
Benefits
- More powerful automations than Zapier at similar cost
- Free tier allows up to 1,000 operations per month
- Ideal for multi step processes
Make is a really cool tool: It allows you to build complex workflows visually without writing code. You can connect multiple apps, schedule automation triggers, and build branching logic that Zapier’s free tier does not allow. Make always felt like the slightly more complex, less-user friendly version of Zapier to me. Kind of like Android is to an iPhone user. However, like this Android vs Apple comparison I am using: you get WAY more control and automation in Make vs Zapier.
Pricing: Free tier available. Paid tiers start around 14 CAD per month as of November 2025.
Make is more flexible than simpler tools and is perfect if your business has multi step processes such as order processing, onboarding, or multi channel updates.
Shopify Flow for Ecommerce Automation
Benefits
- No code automation trained specifically for ecommerce
- Built directly into Shopify for seamless performance
- Includes templates for tagging, inventory alerts, and customer segmentation
Shopify Flow is Shopify’s native automation system for ecommerce stores. It allows merchants to automate product tagging, customer segmentation, inventory notifications, internal alerts, order routing, and more. This saves eCommerce store owners dozens and dozens of hours every month, and allows them to stay in the easily used Shopify ecosystem!
Pricing: Included for all Shopify plans except the Starter tier. Plans typically start at 52 CAD per month as of November 2025.
Shopify Flow is extremely powerful for stores that want to scale without hiring additional staff. For example, you can automatically tag VIP customers, trigger special email sequences, or notify your team when low stock needs attention.
How to Choose Which Automations to Start With
The best starting point is identifying tasks that are repetitive but necessary. Examples include entering data twice, forwarding emails, sending follow up messages, or manually checking for updates. If a task does not require judgment, creativity, or strategy, it is likely a candidate for automation. We used to hire administrative assistants for this, but in today’s economy it is very clear to see why small businesses are making the switch to utilizing AI and Automations in their workflows. For the price of 1-2 hours of an assistants time, you would have a months worth of automations!
In short, when it comes to automations or AI integrations, we see business owners typically see the fastest wins from:
- Lead capture workflows
- Email onboarding sequences
- Customer segmentation rules
- Order notifications
- Schedule management
- Sales tracking or reporting
These can all be automated using the tools listed above without writing a single line of code. That’s the age we live in, wowee!
These weekend automations like these save hours per week and dramatically improve consistency. No code tools give small businesses the power once reserved for large companies without the high cost. If you want help implementing these systems or building custom workflows for your business, Wedu Media can support you through strategy, setup, and optimization.
